Me and my husband bought the Sony VAIO VGN-FE41Z series laptop three months ago by calling at call centre. We by experience came to conclusion that using call centre for the order is better because you can ask them for any offer or even free delivery. My husband is a GP so he needed a laptop for only work. So we both selected this laptop with mobile technology. I found this laptop best as it has some special features like built in camera, microphone and blue tooth. This Sony laptop has Intel Centrino, Duo with windows vista . Sky Pe is also installed. I selected screen size 15.4″. Memory is 2 GB.

When I first opened the laptop ,the touch just said its quality. The X-black LCD with double lamp widescreen was stunning and impressive. The graphics can never be found in any other computer . Every part itself saying that it belongs to the Sony and Sony are the best.
I chat with my sis' in US using built in camera . I used yahoo chat instead of Skype because yahoo is free and Skype has charges and Skype can be use with broadband and also when some one on the other side also use broadband. Other wise its function is disturbing.
Disadvantages are when comparing with Dell, no disc is supplied for already installed software like Windows vista is installed and no disc is provided in case any damage is done to laptop . So we can not reinstall the windows or adobe photo shop .
I paid for Microsoft word. Dell provide Disc for windows and word and also for each and every software installed.

One day (it was not even two weeks) when I tried to log on my laptop its windows start up and then suddenly screen went black and it seemed like dead .I did try to start again but it just produce clicking sound and no more move. I was shocked and got worried .It is such an expensive, brand new and latest model .what should I do now. But I was not very worried as It was covered by business warranty ,so I thought to contact to Sony and get my laptop repaired but before that I wanted to do what ever I could do my self and so contact my friend who set up my laptop and also my Dell computer. He is an expert in the computer and it is his profession too. I followed his advice. The solution was so simple that no body will believe .Any body can do this. So I thought if any body come across with the same problem should not end up paying or be fooled by anybody.
Laptops are actually are more delicate and sensitive than desktop computers. The laptops has more powerful defensive system than desktop computers against invaders.
When any problem accord like windows went switch off automatically, screen turns blank, laptop did not turn on or suddenly turn of automatically while running. The reason could be any one and might possibly be cured by:-
(First check that it is not due to need of charging)
Take out all the other connections from the laptop
Then slowly take out those batteries which are inserted in the laptop all the time.
Then leave the laptop this way about at least an hour.
After an hour insert back the batteries in the place . And slowly turn on the power button and amazingly this simple trick helped and reset the laptop .
What my friend told me and also I concluded that there might be a virus invaded through Internet and tried to infect the hard drive. The self defence system of laptop automatically went to “sleep” to save it self from damage.
Then when we take out the battery from the laptop ,the internal power set to zero as there were no supply of current by any mean for some time and when reinsert the battery in the laptop like the first day, it is back to normal and get out of “sleep” mode. There might be other technical clarification but as I am no expert I just guessed it my self.
I have done this twice as this happened to my laptop twice and both the time it did work.
And I am sure it will work for every one the same as it did to me. And I am really happy to get my Sony VAIO laptop back and working and also because Bond also use the same one and I am sure he does know the same solution if problem occur !
I know the problem occur due to my fault it had nothing to do with the Sony and the problem was resolve. I was not worried because the laptop I bought was quite expensive so I get 4 years cover. Now even after 3 to 4 months it is working nicely and smoothly . I am happy with our choice
Windows Vista is the new feature but it is very much similar to Windows XP . All of the software are compatible l(I am talking about only which I use )like, Adobe Photoshop ,yahoo,MS Word, MSN and all the other common features we use in every day life. The following are the top 10 question you should ask yourself before researching and buying your new laptop:
10. Your budget is probably the biggest consideration, and can be the deciding factor on what extra options, if any, you will get. After you decide on a budget then look at what laptops can fit your needs and price around. A little phrase to consider is that spending a little extra now will save you a LOT of headaches later. With today’s technology prices putting down a $2000 budget will make you extremely happy and you will probably have money left over. You will also find that the price of a laptop is very close to being the same as a desktop with the same specs when you include an lcd monitor.
9. What are your needs out of a laptop computer? Everybody likes to surf the net, check e-mail, do word processing, and at least the occasional song and picture, and pretty much all new computers can do all that. Some just do it faster than others.

Do you travel a lot, or in school? This will affect many choices in options with the laptop. In other words: How mobile do you want to be? That brings me to number eight:
8. Size. Wow, there are a lot of different sizes out there! How do you choose? First, if you want to be really mobile then you would probably prefer a smaller screen. This will affect the overall size and weight of the laptop. The screen size will also affect the battery life you will get out of one charge. Usually a 14.1” screen or smaller is consider small. Or, if you are looking for a desktop replacement that you can occasionally take around the house or even less out of the house, then you might consider a bigger screen. These screens put out 17” of video love and most come with those lovely number-pads to the right of the keyboard. A 17” screen compared to a 14.1” screen is obviously heavier and use up more battery life, but you will be plugged in to an outlet almost all the time and what is a pound or two extra. A happy medium is a 15” or a 15.4” if you want a widescreen.
Thickness will also affect the weight of your laptop. Getting an ultra thin laptop is cool. Just remember that with all that breathing room gone your cool laptop can get hot fast.
7. Some people don’t care about what brand they get, and consider that a computer is a computer. While that may be truer with desktops, laptops are a little more crucial about what brand you get. If your happy and satisfied with computer by a certain company, by all means stay with that company, and remove all doubt in your mind that if your computer messes up it wasn’t because you got a different brand. FYI: all brands of all computers have problems, some brands just have more.
This part is a little more difficult to write without being biased, but I will attempt. Take my opinion for what you will, but I have worked with computers for many years and even sold computers at a certain technology store.
That being said, picking a brand of laptop is like picking a brand of automobile. No matter what brand of car you get, you can always get a fast engine under the hood. Some brands of cars are just better built and perform longer because of the quality. Most people would consider an average quality brand of car as being Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Toyota, etc… A better quality car you would probably be Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, etc…Comparatively, average brand of laptop would be Gateway, Dell, HP, Compaq, Acer, e-Machines, and the better side of laptops is Toshiba, Sony, IBM-Lenovo, and Alienware. But remember the better quality comes at a price.
6. The first step in choosing speed is the processor. There are a few factors to consider in a processor. First is, do I want Intel or AMD? At this point in technology Intel has the best processor for a laptop called the Core 2 Duo. It is a little more pricy but from what rumor mills say, I expect it to go down by the end of the year. There is absolutely nothing wrong with an AMD processor, they will soon come out with a competing processor.
Next you will want to consider raw speed. This is usually measured in Gigahertz. (abbreviated GHz) The bigger the number, the faster the processor is. Also, bus speed is very important in speed of a computer. This is probably one of the biggest factors and the most overlooked. Bus speed is how fast the computer’s components can communicate with each other. A lower bus speed will cause a bottleneck in the flow of information and will cause your computer slow down. A low bus speed is the leading cause of slow computers. The easiest way to not get a slow bus speed is choosing the correct model of processor. In the Intel brand a Celeron processor has the lower bus speed and respectively for AMD the Sempron is slower. If you are on a strict budget, you will probably consider going to one of those slower processor models. But, if you must get anything extra, bus speed is the first to consider.
Recently another factor has appeared, Dual-Core. Dual-Core means that the processor has two processing lines, and that means it can now process two things simultaneously, and double the power of the processor without taking up extra power from the battery. Single core processors are being phased out so they are a bit cheaper.
5. The second factor in speed is memory. Memory is a temporary place for your computer to store commonly used data from the hard drive. A lack in memory can severely affect the computer’s speed. Memory is measured in Megabytes (MB) and Gigabytes (GB). As a unit of measure I will inform you that 1 GB = 1000 MB. Today’s recommended amount of memory is at least 1 GB. This is especially recommended if you want to upgrade your Windows from XP to Vista when it comes out. You can get 512 MB and work with Windows XP easily, but never get a computer with only 256 MB unless you plan on upgrading the memory.
4. The hard drive is another speed factor of your computer. How does the storage device affect the speed of the computer? The hard drive is essentially the slowest component in your computer. This is especially apparent in laptops. The hard drive being slow is the whole reason for memory in the first place.
Each hard drive has disks inside that spin at a certain speed. And how fast they spin determines how fast they can access information. Essentially, if you speed up the hard drive, you have sped up the whole computer. There are only a few speeds of hard drives to remember, and hard drive speed is measured in Rotations per Minute (rpm). The speeds are 4200rpm, 5400rpm, 7200rpm, and 10,000rpm. I am not aware of a laptop that has the 10,000rpm hard drive, and the 7200rpm is rare and expensive in laptops. The rpm of the drive is the second thing to consider in speed if your budget allows.
Size of the hard drive does not affect speed much but does play an important part in how many programs, songs, videos, etc you can store on the computer. Like memory the hard drive size is measured in Gigabytes (GB). You may ask, “How do I determine how much space I need?” There is no formula to determine an exact number. You will just have to do a little predicting. Keep in mind that the average song is 4MB, the average picture on a 6 mega pixel camera takes up 4MB, and the average movie is 3 to 4 GB. That is about 250 songs or pictures per GB. If you plan on storing either of these on your computer you will have to allocate that much space on the hard drive, and when your drive is full you will have to delete something to put something else on. You can always burn your media to a CD or DVD to free up space. But, as I said earlier, “Do you really want to go through that?” The average person will not fill up 80GB. Also, if you need extra space you could buy an external hard drive.
3. Do you want to be able to watch a DVD on your laptop, or do you want to go as far as to be able to backup your DVDs to another disk in case they scratched? Most all laptops come with at least a CD writer\DVD reader drive standard. If you want to be able to copy DVDs or make your own, you will have to opt for DVD writer drive.
The drives speeds are measured in “X” otherwise known as times. In other words 1X is real time, (the speed as if you were watching the DVD or listening to the CD.) and 2X is twice as fast as real time. Currently the maximum speed for burning a DVD is 16X and a CD is 52X.
2. The warranty is a very important feature and can be the most expensive option to get. Every laptop should come with 1 year warranty from the manufacturer covering only defective equipment. Every major manufacturer and even the retail stores offer extra protection ranging from extending the manufacturer’s warranty to covering any accidents you may have. Since most defective equipment shows itself after the first year, extending the basic warranty is highly recommended. If you want to cover wear and tear or are clumsy you might want to consider getting the complete coverage warranty, so in case you drop the laptop and the screen cracks it will be fixed free of charge. These repairs can cost more than the laptop. If that is the case, most warranties will just give you a brand new laptop. (Free upgrade!) Before getting any extended warranty review the terms and conditions so you know what they cover and what you will be paying for that coverage. Remember, Insurance is us;ess until you need it. I read today's article about Jorge Mester with great sadness and yesterday's article by David Ng with dismay. I question the accuracy of the article in regard to Mr. Mester and unsuccessful negotiations with an implied message that the failed negotiations and potential financial failure of the orchestra was on his shoulders.
This is a conductor and orchestra who donated 100% of their time and services to the first concert performed after the announcement that the orchestra(s) were in financial trouble. That concert did not cost the association any money for Mr. Mester or the orchestra. There were rumors that the musicians who were unable to perform at that concert paid their substitutes out of their own pockets rather than burden the association. Mr. Mester also secured the services of the pianist that night to also perform for free. These are not the actions of a man too greedy to bend to negotiations. On the contrary, couldn’t one speculate that the problems with the negotiations are with the association management and a non-performing board? My understanding of a strong board for any organization is to be able to both personally provide funds and to have a rolodex of contacts also capable of making large contributions. Where have the board members been throughout this ordeal?
The orchestra was devastated to learn that Mr. Mester was terminated. They loved playing for him and respected his musicianship and ability to conduct them to performing beautiful music. Let’s also not forget that the musicians in the orchestra among he best performing and studio musicians in southern California. To find a conductor of Mr. Mester’s caliber and capability to make music with these musicians who are accustomed to working with the best composers and conductors in the professional music world, will be a long search. You get what you pay for. I suspect Mr. Zdunek doesn’t know the difference a conductor can make, he only knows the difference between what they are paid.
Pasadena audiences are knowledgeable. Concert quality has declined. The solo artist at the April concert was embarrassing at best. This was a third string musician with a first string orchestra. If this is the quality of performance that Mr. Zdunek desires, then he might as well fold the tent now. Concerts such as the April one aren’t worth the price of admission or even the effort to get to the auditorium with a free ticket in hand. It was the quality of the remainder of the program that enabled me to stay. Are we to believe that Mester was responsible for choosing that artist, or was the artist’s fee the determining factor of who was to perform? Of all the years I’ve attended Pasadena Symphony concerts, this is the first concert where the artist was not up to the task. Mr. Mester has always had excellent artists, many of whom were at the beginning of careers that have brought them world recognition. If the choice is between a concert consisting only of orchestral pieces, or a mediocre concert featuring an amateur soloist, give me the orchestra alone – if they want to perform for a get-what-you-pay-for conductor.

I am not just writing an Acer Mini Laptop review to give the good news, but also some cons. I'm always writing articles, so I was a bit weary to see they did not include the full version of Microsoft Office. Yes, the Acer laptop does come with this software but you can only have the trial version for 25 days. However, there are still writing tools available like Wordpad, Notepad, and Microsoft Word Processor.
One other thing that I havn't mentioned is their games. They have about two different game sets rather than one. For example, in the Acer Game Zone are a few games like Cake Mania, Chicken Invaders, Fizzball and more. Located in the regular Games menu is Pin Ball, Hearts, Internet Spades and Solitaire.
The only problem I have encountered with the Acer Laptop is that the screen resolution is too small and there are only two settings for it. Whenever I go to Internet Explorer, all the font is tiny. It would be nice if they could fix that in the future because sometimes I find myself squinting. Also, if you are looking to save your files one day you will discovery that this laptop does not accept discs of any kind. You can use a flash drive for the Acer Mini laptop just fine. The first mini Toshiba is pretty predictable throughout. The NB100, Toshiba has a bright 8.9-inch with 1024×600 resolution and comes with a choice of XP or Ubuntu Linux, a webcam, microphone, WiFi, Bluetooth (no 3G yet), up to 120 GB hard drive, and, of course, an Intel Atom.
So maybe Toshiba have identified what is a netbook, but what's the difference? Toshiba already has an impressive range of notebooks, including ToshibaPortégé R500-10U and are eager to maintain its brand and quality construction, hand in hand. The request by Toshiba, the NB100 people buy – because it is a mini-laptop Toshiba.
The NB100 starts at about 259 pounds, except for the base model and evaluation of Linux that has only a 80GB hard drive and 512 MB of memory. The Windows XP model will cost about 299 pounds, but has a 120GB hard drive and a series of 1 GB of RAM. Style XP, it seems better valuemoney.
